Versace Woman steps into the urban jungle
“This is a collection for the way women live their lives today, mixing tailoring with sportswear and effortless glamour,” summed up Donatella Versace talking about her Spring/Summer 2016 collection mood. It has everything in it: sculpted silhouettes, flounces, military jackets turned into business dresses and chiffon fringed blazers on top of pencil skirts. It is sharp, it is bright, it is slits to the thigh on slinky little evening dresses. Jungle and camouflage combinations in neon orange, jungle green, purple and black are mixed with street outfits, leopard and zebra prints are layered together. Waist definition via a neon belt is key, tough jackets patched with animal print as is theVersace military jacket – be it a bomber, be it a blazer, a blouson, cropped or not.
Utility jackets in khaki and desert sand made for little belted dresses, little chiffon torn dresses snuggling on shoulders and hips, with lace inserts drawing animal prints on bare skin. Animal prints on sheer chiffon gowns too, with trailing cuffs and frayed hems looks like they are dissolving into the catwalk.
Serious sandals – platforms with rubberized soles, embellished by sequins, frayed chiffon, safety buckles and a steep, steep heel – beneath. Last but not least, glossy backpacks and tie-handle scrunched bags are amongst the new arrivals in the Palazzo Family.
