MARIO TESTINO AND HIS ART
We are talking about the new Alexander McQueen retrospective, which was originally hosted by the Metropolitan Museum just over a year after the British designer’s tragic death, and that will now be showcased again in the UK.
From March 14 to July 19, 2015 the Savage Beauty exhibition will be displayed at theVictoria & Albert Museum in London. An unmissable precious occasion to learn more about the visionary creations of the British designer, who hanged himself at 40 in his West End apartment. The retrospective retraces McQueen’s career, from the 1992 debut in the industry with his MA graduate collection to the 2010 Fall-Winter collection, which was left unfinished.
Martin Roth, V&A Director, has told the press: “I am thrilled to announce that the V&A will bring this wonderful exhibition to London to celebrate the extraordinary creative talent of one of the most innovative designers of recent times. Lee Alexander McQueen was brought up in London, studied here and based his globally successful McQueen fashion brand here – by staging the exhibition at the V&A it feels like we are bringing his work home.”
The original Savage Beauty retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York attracted over 650k visitors, becoming one of the museum’s top ten most visited exhibitions and London is now hoping to be just as successful.
