La Rinascente presents Techno Souq
A Souq with a contemporary mood in via Santa Radegonda, in the heart of Milan, has been commissioned to Studio Cibicworkshop, to mark the Universal Exposition and celebrate the 150th anniversary of LaRinascente, in the year when Milan hosts Expo.
Techno Souq is an extraordinary futuristic installation that turns into a multi-functional space to host cultural events, educational talks, interactive workshops, exhibitions, fashion shows and much more. It is an eclectic space of great architectural impact, open from 1 May to 31 October, and aims to give greater visibility to projects that enrich the community and celebrate excellence in the worlds of food, fashion and design.
Techno Souq has been realized in the section of via Santa Radegonda, between number 10 (LaRinascente’s annex entrance) and the Duomo square intersection, right where, in 1865, the Bocconi brothers opened the workshop that today became the Milanese department store of excellence. The project provides the repaving of the street, in which LaRinascente is already involved, and the construction of aerial vaults covering the street with different inclinations. Some cylindrical organic structures will hang from the vaults, to collect the rain water into big jars. During the day, the light is filtered through the vaults, at night they light up to create an extremely suggestive space.
The project offers an opportunity to bring different activities to the attention of public, in order to foster imagination and broaden mind.
