Vino in Villa, bubbles meet history
History meets sparkling wine in the 18th edition of “Vino in Villa”, the festival that celebrates the Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene, from May 14 to 17 2015. The castle of San Salvatore in Susegana hosts the most important event on Sunday May 17, a medieval complex owned by the historic familyCollalto. Vino in Villa celebrates the Conegliano Valdobbiadene: a real cultural festival to help discover the several universes created by the history of wine. The castle of San Salvatore in Susegana, few kilometers from Treviso, is the symbol of Conte Collato Winery, one of the most ancient Italian wine-making reality, and also the largest D.O.C.G. area of the Prosecco Superiore Conegliano Valdobbiadene. The castle dominates the countryside and is the symbol of an age-old tradition of agricultural activities, like the one of Collalto family, existing in official documents since 958. This is the place where the Prosecco’s history and culture reach their peak and blend in an extraordinary natural setting, becoming the key elements that the Consortium for Protection aims to present.
Conte Collalto of Susegana winery is one of the most ancient in Italy, producing about 850,000 bottles per year, realized thanks to a skilful wine-making technique established over of centuries. The winery is managed by Princess Isabella Collalto de Croy, mother of Prince Emmanuel, who took the management of the winery and vineyards in 2007. The production plants’ sustainability contributes to give life to over 550,000 bottles of Prosecco Superiore Conegliano Valdobbiadene D.O.C.G., as well as selected white, rosé and red wines including reserves, a Passito wine, a grappa and an extra-virgin olive oil.
