Ducati: The new Monster 1200 R, more aggressive than ever
The most powerful and lightweight. The new Ducati Monster 1200 R has been designed for all those who make sports performance their lifestyle. The latest naked bike the Borgo Panigale brand has produced, with its 160 hp, ensures style and performance on the road and the track. Compared to the Monster 1200 S, the Monster 1200 R takes the Ducati naked sports bike concept to the extreme: the twin-cylinder “R” version delivers 10% more power and 5.5% more torque. With these numbers the Monster 1200 R is second to none.
It’s beautiful and fast in two available color schemes, Ducati Red and Thrilling Black, and weighs 180 kg less than the S version. The Ducati Traction Control system manages three different Riding Modes: Sport, Touring and Urban, to enhance vehicle performance, optimize control and improve overall riding safety.
The Ducati Monster 1200 R makes an immediate impact with its sporty, compact and lightweight lines. The tailpiece is aerodynamic, pointing upwards, while the seat – one single piece for rider and passenger – is shorter and slimmer.The sporty riding style is also reflected in the attention to detail, like the separate passenger footpegs that offers an essential look and enhances its racing-inspired riding experience.
The new engine is able to express a fluidity not granted for a naked bike with 4 valves per cylinder, a restyled version to enhance efficiency. The Monster 1200 R Testastretta 11° DS engine is coupled via Æ 58 mm pipes to an impressive side-mounted 2-1-2 staggered shotgun exhaust and the double silencer has an original design. The new Monster can adapt to different driving style thanks to the Riding Mode. Sport, Touring and Urban, three different pre-set configurations that best adapt to the riding style or riding conditions. The “Sport” offers full power (160 Hp) and an even more spontaneous and direct throttle response. the “Touring” mode combines full-engine power with ABS control and suspension setting focused on comfort for long distance. The “Urban” mode with limited engine power (100 Hp), provides more control of the DTC/DWC, for a more comfortable drive in the city.
