Maurizio Orrico’s photographs in Rome

Light is the leading theme ideally connecting Berlin and Beijing, through a sequence of images. 20 works by Maurizio Orrico will be displayed in the exhibition “Light Shapes – Between Berlin and Beijing”, from 6 March to 26 April. The event is promoted by Roma Capitale and the Council Department for Culture and Tourism, realized by Password Onlus and Dreams’ Thief, and sponsored by Carical Foundation. Opposite places, not only geographically, but also culturally, visually, politically and socially, find a trade union in Orrico’s art works.

The journey sees the whole world. Between Berlin and Beijing, an emotional and intuitive pilgrimage is showcased through the use of different instruments, from digital to Leica, capable to elicit great emotions and sensations in the viewer. Orrico goes from France to USA, from Italy to Greece, drawing an ideal map of the places he loves, conveying sensations beyond the strict constrains of time. Alongside the photographic survey, the group of sculptures The Travellers expands three-dimensionally the artist’s vision of our time and space perception.

Glimpses of Beijing, nest of confusing cables between a roof and the other, almost covering gloomy skies, visibly communicate turbid catastrophic premonitions in a Blade Runner style. Berlin, instead, appears in all its geometric perfection, with its new architectural profiles cutting the horizon; prediction of an ideal, utopian city.
