LA DOLCE VITA

‘Cleopatra’, the epic drama with Liz Taylor, but also Fellini’s ‘I VitelloniSergio Leone’s spaghetti western ‘For a Few Dollars More’, Bertolucci’s ’1900?, Pier Paolo Pasolini’s ‘Salò or the 120 Days of Sodom’, are some of the remarkable movies shot in Cinecittà, Rome’s iconic film studio.

Those who believe that the golden days of Italy’s answer to Hollywood are just a fading memory should reconsider their opinion, as some good news have just arrived to dispel any kind of pessimism. Chopard – already sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival – is about to take on another exceptional project that involves an important restoration and the inauguration of the historic site’s new entrance by next September.

This new venture is the result of a partnership between Cinecittà Studios and Istituto Luce-Cinecittà (whose 90th anniversary will be celebrated this year) announced during the opening of the 67th Cannes Film Festival from a terrace of the Hotel Martinez, which for the occasion was also hosting the impressive ‘Backstage at Cinecittà’ photographic exhibition.
