Precious, artist’s jewelry in Venice.
Over 100 important contemporary artists were not only painters or sculptors but also tried their hands at creating jewels. Names of the caliber of Picasso, Jeff Koons, Louise Bourgeois, Damien Hirst and Anish Kapoor just to name a few.Jewellery as works of art, never been shownbefore. From 8 February to 12 April 2015, the exhibition Precious – from Picasso to Jeff Koons is taking place in the Vitraria Glass +A Museum, in the splendid Palazzo Nani Mocenigo of Venice.
Precious is now in Italy after having been shown in Roubaix in 2008 and hosted in cities like New York, Athens, Valencia, Miami and Seoul. The collection features pieces owned by the collector Diane Venet, result of many years of research. The 161 jewels of the entire collection offer a different approach to art, and give a new look to the noble floor of the suggestive and new Vitraria Glass +A Museum.
Unique pieces become works of art thanks to the signature of the great artists. Preciousoffers a truly unique look at the path some artists have taken from the second half of the 20th century up through today. Every jewel is a work of art to wear, with a unique story to tell. The significance of the show is double: Precious not only makes reference to the fact that these pieces are rare and precious, but also to the fact that they have symbolic and personal meaning behind their creation. Intertwined stories of lives and art.
