Debut designer of Algerian origin Yacine Aouadi

Yacine Aouadi, young designer of Algerian origin born in 1980, presented in july  his first Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2015-16 collection, self-financed and entirely realized in Paris, broderies included. The title of the collection is the encrypted anagram «13 ‘015»: 13, the superstitious number linked to «2015», here abbreviated in «‘015». Together they form «13015», an arrondissement of the North of Marseille, where Yacine was born.

And 13 is the number of looks presented in this collection: 18 pieces creating the ideal wardrobe imagined by Yacine. The urban style that inspired the collection is translated in the use of thick wool felt, combed cashmere and Scottish grain de poudre, and characterized by Victorian stylessuch as high austere collars and Sophie Hallette intricate black lacework, and Maison Hurel black organza. The use of black and sheer organza, with decorative writing that resembles tattoos, evokes superstition and fetish culture.

Yacine Aouadi stole the spotlight with the demi-couture ensemble he created for Cate Blanchett at recently NY Film Festival.
