Gin lovers visiting the capital from now on will have to add an extra stop to their itinerary. As from today, the historicBeefeater distillery (20 Montford Pl, London SE11)  is opening its doors to visitors, allowing them to witness the production process carried out on the iconic premises since the 19th century and to learn more about the history of London dry gin.

Visitors will also be able to admire a special bottle of the newly-launchedBeefeater London Garden Exclusive Edition, a tribute to Chelsea Physic Garden, where founder James Burroughused to test his apprentices’ sense of smell during his experiments with medical herbs.

This new bottle is in fact the result of an attempt to enhance the classic gin with herbal and balsamic undertones without compromising its signature citric taste. To achieve this, Beefeater hired master distiller Desmond Payne, who painstakingly worked on those medical herbs so dear to the founder’s heart to create the sublime London Garden Exclusive Edition.
