Transforming ceramics from simple decorative covering to interior design objects. This is the challenge undertaken by<\/span>Mutina<\/span>, an artistic project that unites technology, craft, experimentation and research to push the boundaries of the material itself and create a high-quality product. A group of expert designers are the heart of the project: <\/span>Patricia Urquiola, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, Rodolfo Dordoni, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay<\/span><\/em>, just to name a few.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Their collective challenge is to experiment with the infinite spectrum of white, black and neutral color. These non-colors become tones to coordinate, combine, contrast or choose for a total look. <\/span>Their work is the result of tireless research to test which artisanal or industrial techniques are most suitable for producing ceramic floor and wall tiles and providing architecture with a second skin.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

That is why Mutina<\/strong> ceramics have become a favorite choice for designer hotels, fashion showrooms, trendy restaurants, prestigious universities like Luigi Bocconi, and great temples of art like the Tate Modern, in Europe and all around the world. Mutina has been internationally recognized with numerous awards for the excellence of its ceramic tiles production. Some of the more recent accolades include the IMM Interior Innovation Award 2014 for the collections Azulej by Patricia Urquiola, Tex by Raw Edges and Phenomenon by Tokujin Yoshioka.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are about twenty collections with a range of choice that meets almost every requirement. The Flow<\/span>collection was inspired by the idea of conserving traces of the creation process within the surfaces of the ceramic material, <\/span>ideal for<\/span>floors and walls both inside and outside. The Tex collection by <\/span>Raw Edges <\/span>was inspired by textures from the world of textiles. The shape of a tile is a simplified enlargement of the basic knit. The <\/span>Tratti collection by Inga Semp\u00e8 plays with visual fields:<\/span>eight individual patterns that can be freely combined with the basic tiles. <\/span>The range is completed by three mixed packs that contain different designs which can be combined randomly in infinite combinations.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n
