Max Mara , Renzo Piano & Whitney Bag
In occasion of the new Whitney Museum of American Art opening, in the Meatpacking District of New York, Max Mara Group, the museum’s opening party sponsor, released their new Whitney Bag in collaboration with Renzo Piano Building Workshop. A tribute to Italian creativity and talent celebrated with this innovative collaboration between Renzo Piano Building Workshop and one of the most important Italian Style company, renowned in the world for its tailoring tradition, luxury of materials, innovation and modernity.
“Aesthetic” and “technique” are the driving concepts at the base of the Whitney Bag, whose design and sophistication of materials are totally inspired by the museum’s façade and proportions – consisting of a completely transparent ground floor opened towards the city and vertical iron ribs enveloping the structure as ribbons – already considered one of the most relevant new architectural proposals in New York.
Realized in refined leather, the Whitney Bag – imitating the museum’s structure – has an elegant surface characterized by undulating ridges and relief ribbings obtained via hot working which gradually get thinner. Real “graphic cuts” recalling the modular features of the Whitney Museum’s façade. The red inner lining of the bag is a further detail that Renzo Piano Building Workshop wanted as distinctive element. The Whitney Bag is available in three sizes (original, medium, small) in black, Bordeaux and leather colors, elegant nuances, typical of haute de gamme leathers.
Furthermore, an exclusive “collector” version will be realized in 250 numbered limited-edition pieces – with customizable hot-branded inner stamp – in grey/light blue color, recalling the metallic nuance of the museum’s façade.
