Arte Fiera, record numbers for the last edition
A complete success by the public but most of all a benchmark in the art market. The 39th edition of Arte Fiera in Bologna, has closed with record numbers: 216 exhibitors, 188 galleries, more than 2000 artworks by more than 1000 artists, who included the greats as well as promising young newcomers, spread over 5 sections. New proposal of this year was a special curatorial area called “Leading Players” dedicated to art galleries that have made a major contribution to furthering appreciation of contemporary art. Tens of thousands of people in town attended the Art White Night with 160 events in a program that made Bologna the capital of Italian art. A major event was Mike Leigh’s arrival for the very first Italian preview screening of his film ‘Turner’ at the Lumière cinema, an event promoted by Arte Fiera in partnership with Bologna’s Film Library, and Foody, the Expo 2015 mascot, who made several appearances at Art White Night events to the general amusement of the public. Great success also for the exhibition Too Early, Too Late. Middle East and Modernity, curated by Marco Scotini and staged at Bologna’ s National Art Gallery until 12 April 2015, with more than 5000 visitors in its first weekend. From photography and painting, up to sculpture, Art (Fiera) has no limits.
