Pitti Uomo 88 – What’s new?

Pitti Uomo 88. On Tuesday 16 June, the spotlight is finally on the famous trade event showcasing Spring/Summer 2016 men’s fashions (and more), with colors as protagonists, since That’s PittiColor is the main theme of the June fairs. With a set designed by Oliviero Baldini, the Fortezza da Basso will be transformed into a kaleidoscopic experience of installations, light plays and surprising forays into the world of color. But let us proceed with order. An extraordinary presentation of the Calcio Storico Fiorentino welcomed the operators attending Pitti Immagine Uomo 88, on Monday evening, 15 June, in Piazza Santa Croce, the heart of Florence. The event, sponsored by the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana and Pitti Immagine has been produced with the special grant from Ministry for Economic Development and Italian Trade AgencyFrom 16 June to 3 July, it is staged a storytelling curated by Nino Cerruti together with Angelo Flaccavento. The 17th, instead, Emilio Pucci presents “The Pilot Episode”, the new creative director Massimo Giorgetti will start from a white paper to tell the story of the brand’s origins. The show will start from the “Pilot Episode” in Florence which, like in a TV series, will be a preview of the following episodes. This first collection represents a new vision that will be fully realized in the Spring/Summer 2016 fashion show scheduled for September, in Milan. Always June 17, but in the morning, Arthur Arbesser womenswear is protagonist of an event-fashion show. The 18th is the day dedicated to Moschino, Menswear Guest Designer of Pitti Immagine Uomo 88: the brand’s first men’s runway show since Jeremy Scott took over as creative director.

Pitti Immagine Uomo 88 is the key international trade event showcasing men’s fashions and contemporary lifestyle trends, here is a brief summary of the collections present in the pavilions:

Pringle of Scotland celebrates its 20th anniversary with the Deconstructured project, the first experience of premium range knitwear. French brand American Vintage, celebrates 10 years with a surprise to be discovered in loco, for visitors. Lastly, C.P. COMPANY chose Pitti Uomo 88 as International stage to celebrate its first 40th anniversary and present a limited-edition of the Goggle Jacket, designed by creative director Enzo Fusco. Husky presents the timeless nylon jacket, its iconic piece par excellence, in the new quilted bomber version. Eduardo Wongvalle, tireless traveler and creative, was inspired by his personal way of travelling from continents to continents to create his new Messenger bag. Light, versatile and exclusive, the new L.B.M.1911 Spring/Summer 2016 collection is a perfect combination of tailoring and innovation, this time enriched with outwear and not-to-be-missed accessories, for a more and more total look, while Calcaterra presents a collection characterized by raw-cut jackets with tailored top-stitching, underground volumes and 80s style.  The famous hats brand Panizza, chose a capsule collection in collaboration with You Khanga brand: a classic panama, a pan shaped hat and visor decorated with Made in Kenya fabrics patterns. Alto Milano, brand of socks, continues along its path where color is undisputed protagonist of its collection.  The historic Turin shoes brand Centro Ricerca e Sviluppo Superga, famous for the model 2750, first canvas sneaker with vulcanized rubber soles – born in 1925 – has created a new model in 4 variants of color. Colombo Via della Spiga presents an ultra luxury version of the backpack: entirely made in crocodile with patchwork effects. While Fedon presents the Archimede Collection, a line of backpacks with an essential design and an exclusive leather texture combined with a solid cotton fabric. Aldo Brué chosestripes, a cult of this season, as theme of his collection, declined in black and white and infinitely multiplied, on its Venetian moccasins. A post-apocalyptic scenery, endless sand moors and a contemporary soldier are part of the setting of Bruno Bordese military & rock collection, inspired by Mad Max, one of most expected movie of the year. Gabs presents the briefcase-bag in pvc with original digital prints made with the use of different nibs. The nib gives handwriting a personal unique character, unique like Gabs Blu bags. Brooksfield brand chose instead Jack Savoretti, singer of Genoese origin, as testimonial of its new Seventy man collection. Gherardini chose Pitti Immagine Uomo for the official debut of Mr. Gherardini, the first collection of man accessories born from an idea of Riccardo Braccialini, Group’s AD, and the Invicta brand, produced and distributed by FACIB SpA of Cortesi & C., presented at the Fair a collection of down jackets. Pitti dedicated also a big section to eyewear, with a stand dedicated to Saturnino Eyewear, a reality that has rapidly developed with already more than 100 sales points in Italy: entirely Made in Italy glasses, characterized by a refined style and design, and made with high quality materials. While Dita brand presents the future of its man sunglasses. A week full of inaugurations, exhibitions and openings…. Longchamp, the renowned French maison of fashion and leather accessories, has opened a new boutique in via Roma, the famous street connecting Piazza del Duomo to the romantic Ponte Vecchio house of luxury Florentine and international brands. Momonì hasalso opened the first boutique in Florence at 2 via degli Agli. And Gucci sponsored”The Language of Flowers”, seventh exhibition of the Pinault Collection at Gucci Museo, an allusion to one of Gucci’s most iconic motifs: Flora. Curated  by Martin Bethenod, director of Palazzo Grassi in Punta della Dogana,  this exhibition brings together the works of four artists  produced between 1967 and 2012, who play with the iconography of flowers.
