Pasta and salt jewels in show in Vicenza

Salt, sugar but also pasta and rice. Who said that a jewel, to be called so, has to be made of gold? The Museum of Jewelry in Vicenza – the first in Italy dedicated exclusively to jewelry – hosts the exhibition Food Jewelry, from July 16 to August 28 2015. An original exhibition. The project is in line with the theme of Expo 2015 and presents 150 jewels realized with food or food-inspired. The value of these jewels lies not in the materials. The boldness of the project makes these creations small masterpieces of haunting beauty, realized by genius designers likeGaetano Pesce and Francesca Braga of The exhibition offers a section of eatable works of young designers made with unusual daily ingredients like salt or rice, giving a new function to food other than nutrition.

The museum offers a space of 410 square meters divided in two levels inside the Palladian Basilica. The exhibition space has been designed by Patricia Urquiola, internationally renowned designer, who created the perfect space for the Museum of Jewelry. Nine exhibition rooms, curated by international experts, with about 900 pieces presented through different paths, to show the semantic complexity of jewelry pieces, in different cultures and periods, from prehistoric times to the future of latest technologies.
