Pitti Immagine Uomo 87
Pitti Immagine Uomo 87th edition, the key international men’s fashion event, has just ended, and it’s time for a balance. The numbers speak for themselves: 1.119 brands, together with 66 Pitti W woman collections, launched their new projects for the international crowd that twice a year gathers in Florence to visit one of the biggest exhibits of the fashion industry, spacing from the classic style interpreted in contemporary key, to the new boundaries of luxury underground trends, right up to new talents creations. A lifestyle platform presenting various segments, from apparel to accessories, up to cosmetics; the right place to pick the men fashion trends for next Fall-Winter 2015/2016. Pitti Uomo registered a +20% of Italian buyers, compared to the previous edition of January 2014, and a +13% of international buyers. Among the guest, Marni was the Menswear Guest Designer; the Maison, directed by Consuelo Castiglioni, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a man collection (that walked an exclusive Pitti’s runway at Marino Marini Museum) that seamlessly contrasts already existing elements with new architectural interventions. Among the special projects Andrea Incontri, Pitti Uomo 87Designer Project, presented the premiere of his collection with a fashion show event at Palazzo Corsini, and the young T.Lipop and Alberto Premi Design (winners of Who Is On Next? Uomo 2014) presented -in their unique and unconventional way- their Fall-Winter 2015/2016 high-impact collections to the international audience. Great attention for Make, the section that sprang from the rediscovery of crafts, how they reinterpret traditions and the ongoing face-off between craft work and the most diverse materials. Among the brands presented in this section, Italian and international names such as Borriello, Alfonso D’Este, Ducal and Vaccari, all embodying the vanguard of the high quality crafts and features. Speaking of trends: the Contemporary Classic collections by Bagutta, Brunello Cucinelli, Church’s, Christy’s, Lardini, Lubiam, Mackintosh e Tombolini were a strike and for what “menswear evolution” is concerned, let’s keep an eye on brands like Altea, Herno, Kiton, Massimo Alba and Thomas Mason. An intense schedule full of events, new brands launches, debuts and focus on menswear concepts from ‘new’ countries like Chorea and Sweden: once again Pitti Uomo confirmed Florence as the style international capital, between tradition and innovation
